Stormy weather

What I know is that there is never a power outage in Spirit.

That said, last night the major rainstorm that hit Chico did create a power outage in our house and throughout California.

Since I was already at home yesterday fending off some proverbial ‘bug’, I was already cozy and ready for nature’s opportunity to light all the candles and spend the time in quiet appreciation.

Between the stormy exchanges on Sunday (which ironically happened to be National Clergy Appreciation Day) and the wind and rain on Tuesday, it is has been such an opportunity to know the Truth of things.

“Our true identity is to love without fear and insecurity. Our higher potential finds us when we set our course in that direction. The power of love and compassion transforms insecurity.” -Doc Childre

Many people feel buffeted by the winds of change. And yet, as tricky and challenging as change can be, I am glad to be a Religious Scientist to not only court change but be able to flow with it when it arrives either unexpectedly or in disguise.

We as the CNTC community are being called to a higher order and to do so, change is involved and required. I encourage and invite you to be true to your individual spiritual practice at this time. Avail yourselves of our practitioners and ministers to see you through the sticky bits.

This our perfect opportunity to remember and recognize our Oneness in whatever ways feel supportive and right to you.

By the way, while speaking of changes, this is a reminder that we are changing our service times to coordinate with the daylight savings time that takes place on Sunday, November 1st. We conducted a poll to see what time frame served us all best and initially, the ‘winner’ was the 9:00 a.m. meditation/9:30 a.m. service and we were willing to change to that. However, in keeping with my goal of hearing from you to support your needs and interests, we have learned that many people were unaware or unclear about this process. In order to respect those for whom the one hour time change would be difficult but to allow for us to positively use the extra time, we are creating a compromise: Effective Sunday, November 1st, our meditation will begin at 9:30 a.m.-9:45 a.m. and our regular service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Later in the month, we will begin a Science of Mind Magazine study group following our service and thereby, still leaving a good portion of the Sunday free for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you for your participation, feedback and support. We are clearly moving in the right direction and have the future enthusiastically calling to us to a greater yet to be.
