Science of Mind Online
What is Science of Mind?
Science of Mind is a spiritual philosophy that intertwines the laws of science, opinions of philosophy and revelations of religion, applied to human needs and the aspirations of humanity. It was developed by Dr. Ernest Holmes (1887-1960). The philosophy probes deeply and directly, mindfully and with heart, into the very Source of Life, emerging with a pure and useful knowledge of principles which are universal and can be applied to everyday living.
Overview of the Online Courses
Science of Mind Online introduces the participant to the philosophy of Science of Mind in an interactive yet self-paced way. Being online offers the participant access to an online community of like-minded learners who can share their experiences and insights together. There is no travel required for online classes. All of the interaction and assignments are done weekly online using the Internet and a web browser. The online course provides tools, resources, course calendar, announcements, discussion boards, chat, web links, and quizzes that provide the student with an excellent learning environment and learning community to share in the discovery of these principles.
Students can participate from the convenience of their own home, early mornings, late at night, or on a lunch break, whenever and where ever the student has access to the Web. Students need to keep up with weekly reading assignments and online activities but those weekly activities can happen anytime of the week at the convenience of the student. Students do NOT need to be online at a specific time together unless they optionally choose to connect with other students that way; however, this is not required. For those who find it difficult to commit to a time-certain class or live too far away from a Science of Mind study group or church, this is an alternative. These online courses are one way to connect with a community of seekers who share the interest or need for the knowledge and engagement of Science of Mind principles in their lives.
The Student’s Role in the Course
The online course is interactive. The student is required to do weekly online activities. The student needs a commitment of time to read, write, reflect, interact and study the content of the course and the textbook. One needs to thoughtfully share insights and reflections with one another in a threaded discussion area so that students can learn from one another in addition to the course materials and instructor.
